My computer is dead!

It is a sad day for squadplay.com - Alas my computer, whom I love like a woman, is disabled.

My chipset fan decided it had had enough and happily melted itself off it's bracing. I'm going to try to replace the chipset fan tomorrow, but if the chipset itself is blown, then it's time for a new motherboard :P

And all this on a three day weekend! I even put on my special w00t shirt!

It is enough to make a grown man cry. At any rate, good gaming guys. I'll catch you when I get back up to speed :'(

Squadplay.com - This Isn't My Kit! - Battlefield 2142

So for Xmas we start out with a nice peaceful approach to the pond flag. Right as we are rounding a corner I notice a string of several red blips on my radar. I then curse, because they are the enemy. A rapid, fierce gun battle ensues from which we somehow cut them all down. It was an Xmas miracle!

Then it's off to the warmer, yet damper, climate of Tunis harbor. 'Scream is able to give me my squad leadership back after a crash-and-rejoin on my part - another miracle!

We move onto the power station flag and it is ugly. I thus curse some more.

I curse a lot this episode.

We clean out a couple stragglers after the flag-cap by having slippy flush them off the roof. We then move forward to the garage choke-point - and it becomes utterly insane pretty quickly. I then create a new curse-phrase, "Jesus Christmas!" this is a very hazardous location.

Amidst the craziness I realize that I have someone else’s kit, because I didn't have spawn beacon. We make it pretty far back, but then get taken out due to my impatience. Orange' takes note of the yellow sky, and I defer the explanation to "An Inconvenient truth".

Upon respawn its back to the choke-point. Madness ensues once again.

I move behind the trailers and scan, only to see about 15 netbat diamonds - we find ourselves in a tight spot, cornered like rats. Yet, somehow we prevail - probably because we are so super.

We set-up and hold the harbor garage and I notice that somehow I have someone else's kit yet again! We take the harbor flag and then move back to our holdout.

We then implement a nice defense for the rest of the round. It's a nice change of pace from the initial madness. I leave the rest of the rounds assaults to the squad with [W33T]Canadian23 - that guy can handle it ;) - the W33Ties are killa's.

We then decide to play a little game of "Emergency", only for a real emergency to occur! A real bad-guy's grenade actually takes two of us out!

I really am enjoying myself at this point. But I do pay for my irresponsibility as a couple rockets explode in my facemask. But my sentry gun scores me a combat efficiency pin.

In the end I wind up with even another kit! I guess everyone was just in the giving mood of the holiday spirit with their kits!

Merry Xmas Simpson!

We start off with Voodoo offering us a ride. I gratefully decline and he takes off, only to almost run us over moments later. Simpson and I then voice our opinions. After taking a flag Voodoo pulls away from us while we try to catch a ride with him, only to meet with an unfortunate end.

We then launch into some good middle-flag action during which we try very hard to keep each other alive and calm Voodoo down. Maximumbad comments on my kill-streak, which jinxes me. Simp' wastes a couple guys, we take another flag, then get wasted by the APC - as per usual.

Upon respawn we identify a podding squad and proceed to eliminate the threat. I take out one and the beacon, and my squad rides in like the calvary and takes out a final threat. We avoid a tank on our way to Com Station and eliminate various threats. We take com station without much issue.

It's now time to move up on ruins. Only to meet some unpleasant circumstances.

The second attempt is more successful. In this attempt for ruin I decide that I'm getting bored, so caution is thrown out in favor of craziness.Fortunately "we're a top-notch squad"! and I am revived and proceed to grab a couple pairs of tags and we successfully take ruins despite strong resistance. I then die somehow. It's very enjoyable.

Things start to get a bit more deadly, and then I make the fateful decision to take com tower back.

The approach starts out nicely enough. A couple kills, a nice approach. But then things start getting bad as the enemy squad has good medic work. Additionally, I do not help things by trying to get knife and defib kills. I am finally taken down. But it's fun anyhow.

Our second attempt is met without much resistance. That is, until I die in a hailstorm of explosive death.

Things kind of wind down towards the end as we approach playground.

I comment on a good player, "crazy yossarian" and wonder what exactly that is. It turns out it's something from the book Catch-22. His name must be a word play on Yossarian, since he would have to be crazy to fly the mission, but if you were crazy you were grounded: catch-22. Nice. Class dismissed.

At the end a team mate embeds a couple bullets in my torso.

All in all a nice match. One of many from last weekend.

Please join me next Friday night and Saturday, I'm "Orca".

Shart needs a hug, Great Gibraltar!, and some fun clips

In this episode we start off with a short journey to the outpost base on "Fall of Berlin". Along the way we discuss Shart's emotional state as well as proper protocol for laying claim to a knife kill.

We take the base with little difficulty, only to be forced into reclaiming it upon the stealthy arrival of a three person squad. I dispatch the three soldiers and then ask Shart to hold me close, as I am quite obviously shaken by the experience.

We then move on to some good old Gibraltar action. In this segment the squad executes the classic "harbor rush" and manages to clean out another squad after the deed. We fight off fierce resistance and successfully cap the central base only to learn that harbor has been retaken. On the way back to harbor I am obliged to take a call from my wife, which - as per usual - winds up getting me and some of my squad vaporized by an orbital artillery strike.

Once we have finished with these two main portions of the episode I proceed to string together a series of highlight clips from the weekend.

Please understand that these clips serve merely to show squad morale and are not indicative of proper, or even good squad tactics...especially the game called, "Emergency!". You should never play this game, it is likely grounds for immediate kick and possible ban from a server.

It is not an exploit or blatant team killing or anything of that nature...but it is wholly irresponsible and should not be participated in. It is also very fun.

The Good, The Bad and OMG That Was Ugly!

Not every round goes perfectly ;)

This episode starts with a little charge that ends too early. We then cut to a Berlin Dive Play which works well but is ugly!

We then move onto Tunis Harbor where we have to really earn our flag! It takes us some time before we get it, but we finally do. We then move to take the back flag, only to have the round end before we do :(

After this I have a clip of us taking the Ruins in Minsk - I "look before I leap", but my squad saves my ass (again!).

Then it's time for me to die! Cerbere Landing is murder. I have to hit my head against the brick wall three times before I change my strategy.

After deciding upon the new move we do make our way up to Harbor...a bit too late.

Then it's off to Gibraltar - we charge up the middle (my favorite play) and get the flag succesfully. But get quite pinned-down in our attempt to move up.

We then shift our strategy again and start gaining momentum only for our round to meet an untimely end :P

SquadPlay.com - Attack, Defend, RUSH!!! - Battlefield 2142

This SquadPlay episode takes place on the "War Is Hell" 64 player conquest server for Battlefield 2142. A great server with a good community of team players.

This episode begins on the Suez Canal map as an opposing squad takes a flag from under us. We then proceed to enact defensive tactics in order to reclaim the base.

After some fancy footwork we then take to the road and switch to assault of their flag, effectively capturing the base and wiping out any resistance right at the round's end. Very good squad play - and the first time I had played with any of these squad members.

The episode the proceeds into two videos which show how an effective "flag rush" is executed. These rushes are very intense and emotional, thus they involve a bit of profanity on my part. I have censored the worser swearing by cleverly inserting sounds.

I hope you enjoy this video - and please join me on Friday and Saturday nights, I plan on recording new episodes regularly.

:) - Good Squad Play, Boys!

Smokey_Squad_FlagAttacks_Gibraltar.wmv

This is a video of my squad "smoky squad" taking multiple flags on the map "Camp Gibraltar" in the online multiplayer FPS video game, ... all » "Battlefield 2142".

This video is from the the squad leader's perspective, and serves as a good example of communication to and from the squad. Standard tactics are employed as we move up and assault the enemy flags. However, a few non-standard surprises always lie in wait for us.

I utilize the RD-4 Otus Recon Drone in tandem with the DysTek pulse meter, in order to report the general location and number of enemy troops within our vicinity. Our squad had two dedicated medics, which I make regular use of! ;)

Smokey_Squad_fragfestNov06.wmv

A short frag video of battlefield 2142 involving some footage of me driving the c7 death car, a pre-game knife fight, some rorche ... all » (spelling???) ownage and the dire consequences of the no-nametag bug.

Footage obtained on the 420 jedis 48 player server while a member of Smokey (smoky) squad.

Getting a Squad and Holding a Position in Battlefield 2142

This is a movie which starts on the map "Camp Gibraltar" showing how I gather a squad together and then hold a choke point on the Battlefield 2142 map, "Fall of Berlin" on a 64 player server.

I also talk about my technique as a squad leader and what I consider good practice for running a squad.

It's not a frag video per se, but I did wind up with the gold star as well as the distinguished combat efficiency pin (though interestingly I rarely actually saw who I killed :)
